In Fazilka, a local Aam Aadmi Party leader, Mandeep Singh Brar, was shot during an altercation with Akali workers. He sustained a chest injury and is in stable condition. AAP MLA Jagdeep Kamboj accused Shiromani Akali Dal leader Vardev Singh Noni Mann of the shooting. Police promise strict action. Panchayat elections are on October 15.
