The Congress party has accused the Election Commission of refusing to meet with opposition parties to discuss the use of 100% VVPAT slips in elections. They claim that the independence of the constitutional body has been eroded since 2014. The criticism came after police detained the National Panthers Party chairman and his supporters during a protest in Jammu against the delay in holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
