Cargo volume at 12 major ports in India increased by 5.03 percent to 413.747 million metric tonnes in September. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways held a meeting to discuss a State Ranking Framework and Port Ranking System. Several issues were resolved and new challenges like Places of Refuge for distressed ships and Radioactive Detection Equipment were addressed.
