Microsoft tech glitch: Passengers face delays as Friday's tech outage causes continued chaos
A global tech outage on Friday caused massive disruptions in air travel, leading to over 250 flight cancellations in India and about 7,000 worldwide. The issue, stemming from a faulty software update affecting the Navitaire platform, led to chaos at airports, particularly for IndiGo, India's largest airline, which cancelled around 90 flights. The outage impacted several systems, including check-in, refunds, and baggage handling. The DGCA mandated airlines to compensate affected passengers. While IndiGo began restoring services, including initiating refunds, Air India and Vistara reported minimal disruptions.
