India's peak power demand is expected to surpass 400 GW by 2030, prompting the government to establish additional generation capacity, according to Union Power Minister R K Singh. Singh emphasised the importance of electricity for development and stated that the country's power shortage has been reduced to less than 1%. He also highlighted the significant growth in renewable energy capacity, with plans to reach 500 GW by 2030.
