IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers stated that the recent incident of passengers eating on the tarmac at Mumbai airport was acceptable, citing the pressure on airline staff in recent weeks. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) imposed fines totaling Rs 1.80 crore on IndiGo and Mumbai airport operator MIAL for the incident. IndiGo received a penalty of Rs 1.20 crore, while MIAL was fined Rs 60 lakh.
