Siddaramaiah says Cauvery water likely to wastefully flow into sea this year, urges TN to help build Mekedatu reservoir

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urged Tamil Nadu to negotiate for a balancing reservoir at Mekedatu on the inter-state border as good rainfall has led to excess water flow into the Bay of Bengal. This potentially wastes valuable resources. With 83 tmc ft already flowed this year, concerns about water management persist. This has prompted the need for a proposed 67 tmc ft reservoir that could benefit both states and address long-term water needs.
