The BJP criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for questioning the accounts of women complainants in Sandeshkhali, calling her remarks "cheap" and urging to oust her government. BJP MP Locket Chatterjee claimed the protests were spontaneous and not politically motivated, accusing Banerjee of protecting the accused, Shajahan Sheikh.
