Opposition parties in India, led by Congress, have walked out of the Rajya Sabha over the Jharkhand governor's failure to make interim arrangements for governance after JMM leader Hemant Soren resigned as chief minister. Congress president Mallikharjun Kharge compared the situation to the case of neighboring Bihar, where Nitish Kumar resigned as chief minister and was immediately accepted, asked to continue until a new government was formed, and sworn in again.
