San Sebastian ousts Perpetual in Final Four race

MANILA, Philippines — San Sebastian College-Recoletos vanished University of Perpetual Help System DALTA's Final Four hopes after an 83-72 win in the NCAA 100 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Saturday.

With nothing to lose, the eliminated San Sebastian made the best out of its three remaining games and added another win to its column with a 5-11 win-loss slate, while Perpetual Help absorbed an agonizing loss, tallying a 6-10 card, making them out of the Final Four race.

"I told them to enjoy the remaining games. This is for our graduating players Raymart Escobido, and Renz Gabat for their next teams. We love to play big court since we play small ball lineup."

"It is the 100th year of the NCAA, and we were lucky to have the opportunity that we were the ones who were representing the team. I told them let's not exit this season with no wins," he added.

San Sebastian showed efficiency beyond the arc shooting, making 12 out of 32 attempts (45.3 percent three-point shooting ), while Perpetual Help struggled and only made 6 out of its attempts (30 percent).

The Olsen Racela-mentored squad could not contain Golden Stags Tristan Felebrico and Gabat's 18-point and 15-point fiery shooting.

Christian Pagaran scored 16 markers, while Mark Gojo Cruz made 14 points for the Altas.
