ROX Motor, a new-energy automotive brand, has introduced its first luxury SUV, the ROX 01, designed for seamless transitions between city streets and rugged terrains. With a robust investment of $100 million from Chinese tech giant Tencent, and leadership from Chang Jing and Chief Executive Officer Yan Feng as part of Xiaomi's ecological chain, ROX Motor aims to strike a balance between off-road performance and luxurious comfort.
The ROX 01 debut took place at the 2024 Chengdu International Motor Show, where the company signed partnerships with key markets in the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe and Africa. These agreements mark a pivotal step in ROX Motor's international expansion, including its recent entry into the Philippines through an exclusive partnership with Transcorp Inc. On Sept. 17, 2024, ROX Motor Philippines officially launched, marking a significant milestone in the brand's global journey.
The ROX 01, which takes center stage in the brand's lineup, promises an elevated driving experience. It boasts four key features: all-terrain capability; advanced safety; luxurious comfort; and versatile entertainment options. With front and rear high-efficiency motors, the SUV delivers a total output of 350 kilowatts (kW) and 740 Newton-meters of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 5.5 seconds. Its WLTC range extends up to 1,115 km, supporting long journeys and outdoor exploration. It also comes equipped with five specialized driving modes and advanced safety features, including off-road cruise control and a 3D transparent chassis, ensuring maximum versatility and occupant protection.
Two ROX 01 variants were revealed during the launch: the ROX 01 Sport; and the ROX 01 Luxury. The ROX 01 Sport is crafted for thrill-seekers, with 20-inch alloy rims and rugged all-terrain tires. A durable roof rack and heavy-duty bash guards protect the vehicle on challenging trails, while a tailgate kitchen with a fold-out platform, storage for cookware, and an AC socket elevates off-the-grid experiences. Additionally, a temperature-controlled water dispenser enhances convenience for outdoor adventures.
For those prioritizing opulence, the ROX 01 Luxury offers a spacious 3,010 mm wheelbase and premium materials, including white oak wood grain and Nappa leather. A standout feature is the dual-side zero-gravity aviation seats in the second row, complete with an 8-point airbag massage function and ventilation or heating options. A 256-color ambient lighting system and multi-screen entertainment suite enhance the luxurious atmosphere.
Safety remains a priority, with the ROX 01 incorporating 87-percent high-strength steel and 32-percent hot-formed steel, achieving top safety ratings from the China Insurance Automotive Safety Index and the Chinese car safety assessment program. Advanced safety features include an AEB collision warning system, six airbags, and state-of-the-art battery protection using CATL's ternary lithium battery technology.Embracing the "One Living Room, One Bedroom, One Kitchen" concept, the ROX 01 redefines outdoor experiences.
