UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta all dressed up for revenge after a bounce-back win at the expense of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 71-61, in the second round of the NCAA 100 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City on Sunday.
The Altas learned their lessons from their first-round loss against the Knights and led as much by 17 points in the first half, 33-16.
Christian Pagaran churned out 19 points and tallied five rebounds, and two steals to lead the scoring for Perpetual.
"We played as a team today, and our goal is to bounce back against Letran since we lost to them in the first round. We addressed our weak spots in the fourth quarter, and make sure that we play as a team and have more chemistry," Pagaran said after the game.
Perpetual kept its cushion in the fourth quarter after holding a 13-point lead, 65-52, courtesy of Jearico Nunez and Mark Gojo Cruz scoring buckets.
Frustration kicked in for the Knights in the last four minutes of the regulation as Letran's go-to gunner received an unsportsmanlike foul that led him to be disqualified in the game.
Letran tried to fight back, but it was too late as the Perpetual's lead ballooned to 70-56, with the clock expiring.
Gojo Cruz put up 15 markers for Perpetual, while Cedrick Abis, and Shawn Orgo added eight points, each.
Letran's Estrada made 14 points, while Nat Montecillo and Kevin Santos put up 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
