Knights survive gutsy Altas in 3OT

MANILA, Philippines — Colegio de San Juan de Letran displayed its endurance after outlasting feisty University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in a triple overtime, 82-73, in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Saturday.

The last time the NCAA had a triple-overtime was a decade ago, Aug. 1, 2014, when Jose Rizal University won over the Arellano University.

In the league's centennial year, the Knights and the Altas' clash led to a cardiac finish.

Deo Cuajao led the scoring of the Knights after churning out 19 points and was the go-to guy in the stretches of the match.

Nat Montecillo added 14 markers, while Jimboy Estrada and Kevin Santos, who both scored 12 points, also made 15 rebounds.

Joseph Nunag showed his shooting efficiency after scoring five out of his seven field goal attempts (71.4-percent shooting efficiency). Perpetual relied on JP Boral and Christian Pagaran's 14-point outing.
