MANILA, Philippines — Quentin Millora-Brown plays as a one-and-done player for UP in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament after his stint with Citadel College in the US-NCAA.
He has one goal in mind - protect UP's winning culture which started after the Fighting Maroons claimed their first title in 36 years in Season 84 back in 2022.
"I just wanna protect the culture of winning at UP," said Millora-Brown.
"I said this before in a different interview, where if I can look back 10 years from now, and see that everyone on the team has continued to win and continues to win, until then and beyond, then I think I'll be really satisfied."
Standing at 6-foot-10, Millora-Brown knows his main weapon is rebounding and that's how he's going to help protect UP's winning culture.
So far so good for 'QMB' and the Fighting Maroons who are undefeated at 5-0 after turning back the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 69-57, at the Mall of Asia Arena Saturday.
Millora-Brown was instrumental in the win with his 11 points and 14 rebounds -- he takes pride in each one of them.
"You know, board men get paid as they say in the NBA. So for me, I think that just taking pride in every rebound I can get," said Millora-Brown, whose UAAP rebounding-career high stands at 17 against Ateneo in the season opener.
For the season, QMB is averaging 8.4 points and 10.2 rebounds.
"As I said, in the interview before, offensive rebounds especially because that can really help our team if we're struggling offensively to find some rhythm, find points when we can't. Just do it straight off of our flow, so, for me, I've always taken pride in it and I think that finding ways to just keep trying to improve that stat."
Millora-Brown doesn't mind the heavy minutes he's logging.
"Really, just anything to win. You know, it's all about winning and finding that next level," he said.
"I think everyone on the team knows you gotta step up whenever you have the opportunity to because opportunities don't always come around. So, when you have it, you have to make the most out of it."
