CEBU CITY — A local fisherman discovered the remains of an unidentified elderly woman floating off the coast of Sitio Noah, Barangay Calajoan in Minglanilla town on Friday. Joseph Parajes, the fisherman, spotted the body near his boat around 6:15 a.m. while preparing to go fishing on early Friday morning. After seeing the body, Parajes quickly informed his neighbor, Ernesto Espra. Together, they notified the local Bantay Dagat team and brought the woman's body to shore. The woman, estimated to be around 50 years old, had short blonde hair and was dressed in a violet spaghetti-strap shirt, red shorts, and sky-blue clogs. Lyndo Ybarita from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office confirmed that the body showed no signs of decomposition, indicating she had not been dead for long. Minglanilla responders arrived soon after and attempted to administer first aid, but the woman had already died. They took her to Minglanilla District Hospital, where doctors officially declared her dead on arrival. Police have launched an investigation to identify the woman and determine the cause of her death. They are urging anyone with information about the victim to come forward to help in the ongoing investigation.
