SEN. Bong Revilla was proclaimed the official senatorial bet of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) in the 2025 midterm elections at the party's national convention on Friday. Revilla is the first announced candidate of the so-called "Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas" (Alliance for a New Philippines) administration slate being formed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.s' party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, alongside Lakas-CMD, Nacionalista Party, Nationalist People's Coalition and National Unity Party. The announcement was contained in Resolution 3 that was adopted during the convention held at the Aguado Residence in Malacañang and presided over by Speaker Martin Romualdez, the party's president. In his speech, Romualdez said the party would join a "formidable administration alliance" that would field candidates in the 2025 elections. He added that the coalition is not just "fielding candidates," but is also shaping the future of the country. Romualdez added that they aim to represent a "broad and inclusive movement that reflects the aspirations of every Filipino." He called his party members to prepare for the 2025 elections with a renewed sense of purpose. "The strength of Lakas-CMD lies in our unity and our vision for a Bagong Pilipinas. Together, we will continue to be the driving force behind the reforms and initiatives to secure a better future for our country," Romualdez said.
