MANILA, Philippines — Ethan Galang came to the rescue as University of the East (UE) turned back Far Eastern University (FEU), 56-51, to take its first win in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday. Misfiring through three quarters, Galang found his range and scored eight straight points as the Red Warriors erased a 10-point Tamaraws lead to keep the latter winless in three games. Galang first drained a trey that tied the count at 51 in the last 1:16 before coming through anew with 25 seconds left to drill another triple, 54-51. After two defensive stops, Galang, who finished with 10 points, sealed the win for his team by draining two free throws in the last 6.2 seconds. UE improved to sixth place while FEU joined Ateneo at the bottom tied at 0-3.
