YUCHENGCO-led Maibarara Geothermal Inc. (MGI) was recognized as one of the top taxpayers in the city of Sto. Tomas, Batangas for the year 2023. MGI ranked 3rd in real property tax category and 7th in business tax category. The awards were presented by Sto. Tomas Mayor Arth Jhun Marasigan alongside Vice Mayor Cathy Jaurigue and city councilors during the Taxpayers' night, held in Sto. Tomas, Batangas on Sept. 2, 2024. This recognition highlighted MGI's steadfast commitment to supporting the local economy and its continuous contributions to the development of the city. This likewise underscored the vital role that private investors like MGI play in sustaining public services and local programs. "With this award, we are not only recognizing financial contributions of MGI but more importantly, [its] dedication to seriously take part in the growth and welfare of Sto. Tomas," expressed Marasigan. For her part, MGI Business Support Manager Lea Carmelia Fernandez thanked Marasigan, Jaurigue and the Sangguiang Bayan of Sto. Tomas for the award. "We are deeply honored to receive this recognition. We assure the Sto. Tomas community that we remain dedicated in our role as a responsible corporate citizen not only on tax payments but also in contributing to Sto. Tomas' own sustainability journey," said Fernandez. MGI had been the developer and operator of the 32-Megawatt Maibarara Geothermal Power Facility in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The facility had been in operation for 10 years now and has consistently partnered with the city on projects related to health, education, livelihood and environment protection.
