RED-HOT TNT shoots for a fifth win and the solo lead when the Tropang Giga collide with Converge anew as the second round of the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup elimination phase continues on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. The Tropang Giga are sure, eager to bounce back against the FiberXers, considering it was just two weeks ago when Scotty Hopson buried the game-winning four-point shot to complete the team's comeback from a double-digit deficit. Both teams face off at 7:30 p.m. Converge though has lost its last two outings by an average of 27 points since squeaker of a win, bowing to NorthPort, 135-109, followed by its 116-88 spanking at the hands of Meralco. The Tropang Giga, on the other hand, have won their last two games since that disappointing setback after beating the Magnolia Hotshots, 88-82, followed by their 107-89 demolition of winless Terrafirma Dyip. As usual, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will again take the lead for TNT, with offseason acquisition Rey Nambatac, fit-again big man Poy Erram, Roger Pogoy, Glen Khobuntin and Jayson Castro providing the needed scoring punch for the charges of coach Chot Reyes. Meanwhile, NorthPort (2-3) looks to repeat over Terrafirma (0-5) when both squads play at 5 p.m. The Batang Pier, who have lost their last two games, played without injured import Venky Jois and wingman William Navarro last Wednesday with both out due to separate sprained ankles. The two could be game-time decisions, though NorthPort still has enough firepower in the team led by high-scoring forward Arvin Tolentino, Cade Flores, Joshua Munzon and rookie big man Damie Cuntapay.
