Visayan voice off to Finland

Jan Francis Alinsonorin from Visayas emerged as the grand winner of the Karaoke World Championships Philippines (KWC PH) 2024, securing his spot to represent the Philippines at the global finals in Finland this October.

Alinsonorin's victory on August 16 at the SM City North EDSA SkyDome was the culmination of months of nationwide auditions and intense competition. The event saw the top four finalists from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and Metro Manila battle it out for the prestigious national title.

The Karaoke World Championships (KWC), founded in Finland in 2003, is the largest amateur singing competition in the world, bringing together singers from diverse backgrounds to showcase their vocal talent. This year, The New Channel (TNC), an online media platform focused on promoting Filipino talent and cultural innovation, hosted the Philippine leg of the competition.

As the KWC PH 2024 champion, Alinsonorin won an all-expense-paid trip to Finland for the world finals, along with a cash prize, a one-year artist management contract, and various other gifts from the event's sponsors. His three competitors – Danilo Lipaopao of Luzon (1st runner-up), Erika Anne Buensuceso of Metro Manila (2nd runner-up), and Mary Joy Parasan of Mindanao (3rd runner-up) – also received cash prizes and special gift packs.

A distinguished panel of judges, including key figures from the entertainment and music industries, ensured a fair and comprehensive assessment of the finalists' performances.

Alinsonorin's win marks the next step in his journey as he prepares to take the stage in Finland, where he will compete against top singers from around the globe on October 7 and 12.
