BSP, DTI, BDOF launch fin ed videos for micro biz

THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and BDO Foundation (BDOF) recently launched educational videos targeting current and aspiring micro-entrepreneurs in the Philippines.

These institutions highlight the key role of financial education and the entrepreneurial support available through DTI Negosyo Centers, benefitting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide.

The informative videos address various business challenges, including starting a business, securing the necessary permits and requirements, and scaling and growing with the help of DTI Negosyo Centers and financial institutions.

"MSMEs are the drivers of our economy. We want our Filipino entrepreneurs to know that the DTI and DTI Negosyo Centers can offer them a variety of services in pursuing their passion, scaling their ventures, and sustaining what they've already started," shared Acting DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque.

In 2022, the Philippine Statistics Authority recorded a total of 1,109,684 business enterprises in the country with 99.59 percent belonging to the MSME category and the majority located in the National Capital Region.

"Millions of Filipinos depend on small local businesses for livelihood. By promoting financial literacy and enhancing the financial health of MSMEs, we empower them to create more jobs for our kababayans and drive our economy's growth," shared BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

The videos are available on DTI platforms to maximize accessibility of the learning materials, expected to benefit more than 900,000 MSMEs nationwide.

"With this partnership, we are optimistic that more and more micro-entrepreneurs can thrive through these challenging times by providing them with more knowledge and skills that are useful to their businesses. BDO Foundation will also help expand the reach of the program by partnering with local government units and civil society groups that support micro-entrepreneurs," BDO Foundation President Mario Deriquito concluded.
