MANILA, Philippines — Cignal secured its quarterfinal slot after finishing the Farm Fresh in four sets, 25-23, 28-26, 25-27, 25-14, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Saturday.
Playmaker Gel Cayuna distributed the ball well as four HD Spikers scored in double-digits in today's match. Cayuna tallied 19 excellent sets, along with eight points on six attacks, and two aces.
MJ Perez led the scoring for Cignal with 25 points, and also added 20 excellent receptions, while Ces Molina added 14.
Rose Doria chipped in 13 points, while Toni Basas made 11 points to help Cignal capture its fifth victory.
Jheck Dionela took care of Cignal's floor after tallying 15 excellent digs.
"We are just following the game plan of our coaches. As a second-stringer, it is important to be ready, and step up your game. I just told my teammates to be calm since the game was intense," Dionela told the press after the game.
The Foxies captured the third set with the help of Trisha Tubu, who scored most of her 23 points from the third frame.
Yeny Murrilo tallied a total of 21 points, but it was not enough as Cignal dominated the fourth set with a 25-14 score.
Ishie Lalongisip only made two points in the entire match, but she made the finishing touches in the last frame to help Cignal to win.
