UNBEATEN Akari seeks to continue its winning ways when it battles winless Galeries Tower in Round 2 of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday.
Game time is 1 p.m.
The Chargers finished the first round with a 5-0 record in Pool B, led by import Oly Okaro, who totaled 123 spikes in their first five games.
"We are putting a lot of effort every day, the team works really hard. We have to work on so many things as a team, and we need to stay calm," Okaro said.
Galeries Tower finished last in Pool A with a 0-5 record.
The Highrisers, however, showed guts in their 1-3 setback against Chery Tiggo last Thursday.
Led by import Chuewulim Sutadta of Thailand and go-to gunner France Ronquillo, the Highrisers need to step up their game to end their losing slump.
Also on Saturday, Cignal (4-1) faces dangerous Farm Fresh (2-3) at 3 p.m.
The HD Spikers made four consecutive wins in Pool B before falling to Akari.
The Foxies, on the other hand, scored victories against lightweight teams Nxled and Galeries Tower but needed to bring their A-game against the HD Spikers.
At 5 p.m., the Marina Tushova-led Capital 1 (3-2) battles Nxled (1-4).
The Solar Spikers clinched the third seed of Pool B with a 3-2 win-loss card, while the Chameleons placed fifth in Pool A with a 1-4 win-loss record.
Tushova made PVL history by scoring a single-game record 45 points against Choco Mucho. She will pit her skills against Nxled import Meegan Hart, who aims to bounce back from a dismal seven-point performance in their previous match against Creamline.
In the second round of the Reinforced Conference, the top three teams of each pool will play against the bottom three teams of the other pool.
