SEN. Bong Go's Malasakit Team spearheaded a relief operation for 1,500 indigent residents in Barangay Matti, Digos City on Tuesday.
The beneficiaries were provided with financial assistance, snacks, vitamins, masks, shirts, volleyballs, and basketballs in a relief effort held in Tablizo Gym. There were also select recipients of shoes, a watch, and a mobile phone.
"As your Mr. Malasakit, no matter what challenges we face in the coming days, I will continue to serve all of you to the best of my ability because it is my habit to serve and I believe that service to people is service to God," said Go.
In collaboration with Davao del Sur Gov. Yvonne Cagas and Sen. Francis Tolentino, beneficiaries also received additional financial assistance from the government.
Expressing gratitude, Go acknowledged the efforts of local officials for prioritizing their constituents' interests and providing crucial support, especially in challenging times.
As chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Go also encouraged patients to utilize the services of the 166 Malasakit Centers nationwide, including one inside the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in the city.
Go was the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, a landmark legislation aimed at reducing the financial burden on patients in need.
