MANILA, Philippines — TWO to three tropical cyclones may enter or form inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in August, the state-run weather agency said on Wednesday.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that 13 to 16 storms would likely enter PAR by the end of the year.
At present, he said it was the southwest monsoon locally known as "habagat" affecting the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
Due to this weather system, partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would be experienced over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales and Bataan.
The same weather condition would prevail within 24 hours over the rest of the country but this time caused by the localized thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said.
