Japanese Ambassador Kazuya Endo on July 12 attended a symposium organized by the Stratbase ADR Institute to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the Arbitral Award on the South China Sea.Eight years have passed since the issuance of the Arbitral Tribunal's award between the Philippines and China regarding the South China Sea. The symposium was an opportunity for foreign ambassadors to the Philippines and other experts to give speeches and exchange views on the South China Sea.In his speech, Ambassador Endo stated that he strongly hoped that the concerned parties' compliance with the award would lead to the peaceful settlement of disputes in the South China Sea, and that he was eager to work with like-minded countries on the various issues in the South China Sea.Japan will continue working in coordination with Asean and other countries concerned to maintain and strengthen the maritime order based on the rule of law, and to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
