MANILA, Philippines — Filipino fencer Samantha Catantan advanced to the round of 32 after a 15-13 comeback win against Brazilian Mariana Pistoia in the Paris Olympics women's individual foil round of 64 at the Grand Palais on Sunday afternoon, July 28 (Manila time).

Catantan pushed through a nagging left knee injury and came back from 0-3, 4-7, and 12-13 disadvantages as she scored three straight points to advance.

The 22-year-old plunges back to action in the round of 32 later.
