SAN Miguel Corp. is set to begin construction on three expressway projects worth a combined P328.84 billion by early 2025, a Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) official said.
TRB Executive Director Alvin Carullo said that San Miguel was currently completing the final engineering design for the P152-billion Southern Access Link Expressway (SALEx).
"Hopefully, they will start construction by early next year," he said.
The proposed SALEx is a 40.65-kilometer elevated expressway network comprising the Shoreline Expressway and three Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 extensions: the C3-R10, Quirino and Buendia extensions.
Construction of the P28.15-billion South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 5 (SLEx-TR5) Segment 1 is also expected to commence next year, Carullo added.
The 60-km Segment 1 will start at Barangay Mayao in Lucena City, Quezon, where SLEx Phase 2 or the Toll Road 4 project ends, and culminate in Gumaca, Quezon.
It will include four interchanges (Pagbilao, Atimonan, Aglangan and Gumaca) as well as the required toll plazas and operation center that will manage this segment.
In addition, construction of the 148.30-km Northern Access Link Expressway (NALEx) is targeted to start by the fourth quarter of this year and will be done in two phases.
The NALEx Phase 1 is a proposed 136.4-km road that will provide connectivity between Metro/Mega Manila, the New Manila International Airport and Central Luzon as an extension of the Metro Manila Skyway-Stage 3 at Balintawak.
NALEx Phase 2 will be a demand-driven expansion from Masantol in Pampanga to Tarlac City.
Expressways built and operated by San Miguel include the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road, SLEx, the Skyway System and the NAIA Expressway.
On Tuesday, San Miguel shares fell 0.29 percent to P102.50 each.
