LTO opens new office in Central Visayas

CITY OF NAGA, Cebu — To serve more clients in southern Cebu, the Land Transportation Office Central Visayas (LTO-7) has opened its doors and inaugurated the City of Naga Extension Office on Thursday.

LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II led the ribbon cutting together with LTO-7 Director Glen Galario, Assistant Regional Director Arturo Apolinar, and Mayor Valdemer Chiong.

Mendoza in his speech said that opening additional extension offices, aside from district offices, streamlines services delivery to serve those living outside Cebu City.

City of Naga is located approximately more than 20 kilometers away from south of Cebu City.

He said that this is the fifth extension office in Central Visayas and the 33rd office in the region, including the 17 district offices, seven licensing offices, three driver's license renewal offices, and one e-Patrol mobile facility.

He said that since last year, five offices have been inaugurated, the latest in Barangay Talamban in Cebu City last April.

Galario said that the new extension office will not only serve residents of City of Naga, but also the neighboring towns of Minglanilla and San Fernando.

The new office offers services such as applications for motor vehicle renewal and motorcycle registrations, new driver's license, renewal of driver's license, and student driver's permit.

"The opening of the LTO City of Naga Extension Office today is a testament to our continuous efforts and grit to enhance the accessibility and quality of our services," he said.

Chiong said that opening such an office will be beneficial to his city as it will contribute to foot traffic and eventually spur sales in nearby businesses.

The new office is located near the iconic Naga boardwalk in Barangay East Poblacion, which is home to several local food businesses that attract tourists.

It is also just few walks away from Pasilong sa Naga, a park designed by renowned Cebuano industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue.

LTO-7 said that the office can hold up to 50 clients at a time, while they target to accommodate an average of 150 clients per day.

Meanwhile, Galario said that they are set to open more offices in the following weeks to serve the public better.

He told The Manila Times in an interview this month that they will open offices in Alcoy in southern Cebu, Consolacion town in northern Cebu, and as well as in Bohol.
