CEBU CITY — Representatives from key government criminal justice agencies paid a courtesy visit to Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia and pledged their support for his administration in a unified stand against criminal activities.

The delegation included Assistant Secretary Miko Clavano from the Department of Justice, Regional Director Renan Augustus Oliva from the National Bureau of Investigation 7 and Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin from Police Regional Office 7.

During their meeting on Tuesday, these officials assured Mayor Garcia of their unwavering commitment to support the city's efforts to combat crime.

In return, Garcia expressed his gratitude and pledged the city government's full support for their initiatives. He highlighted the city's dedication to collaborating closely with these agencies to enhance security and law enforcement operations in Cebu City.

Garcia cited the recent turnover of new patrol car each to 11 police stations in Cebu City last Independence Day celebration.

In an interview, Clavano outlined the department's Circular 20, which mandates prosecutors to work closely with law enforcement agencies during investigations.

He said that this change aims to improve the effectiveness of crime investigation and prosecution. Under the new guidelines, prosecutors will take an active role in the case-building stage, assisting and cooperating with complainants and law enforcers rather than relying solely on affidavits and evidence presented during preliminary investigations.
