Artist CJ de Silva-Ong passes away

MANILA, Philippines — A "gifted child" artist of a popular children's milk brand in the 1990s died on Tuesday, her husband announced on social media.

CJ de Silva-Ong was only 36 years old.

Her husband, Wincy, in a Facebook post on Wednesday said his wife suffered two strokes in the intensive care unit before her passing at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

"Most of you would remember her as a Gifted Child in those commercials in the Nineties, but from the many people who visited the hospital or sent in a message or two, I learned that CJ was a gift herself to the people who came to know her," Wincy added. "Behind that tough and take-charge person you may know is such a sweet, caring girl. I will always remember her for the kindness she brought to people."

At the time of her death, de Silva-Ong was an executive creative director of advertising company TBWASantiago Mangada Puno.

In 1996, she was in a commercial of the milk brand, where she, who used it from 1987 to 1989, was featured as a "Gifted Child."

De Silva-Ong's remains lie in solemnity at The Heritage Park in Taguig from Thursday, June 20 to Saturday, June 22. She will be cremated on Sunday, June 23.
