Understanding the intricacies of shipping artwork across nations becomes essential as the art world becomes more interconnected and the desire for international collections grows.
Whether one is a seasoned artist or an emerging one, ensuring the safe shipping of artwork is crucial due to its delicate nature and value. Compared to regular packages, artwork can be easily packed and shipped off.
Artwork is vulnerable to temperature, humidity, and mishandling. Mishandling can lead to accidental damage, such as dents or scratches. To prevent damage during transit, proper packaging and protection are imperative. Extra care is essential, wrapping it in acid-free paper or archival tissue to shield it from direct contact with packaging materials. It should then be securely placed in a robust crate or box with ample padding to absorb any shocks or vibrations during transportation.
All these precautions and preparations were done expertly by VAM International Gallery, the entity who planned, arranged and executed the penetration of a group of established artist into the discriminating Singapore art market.
Patrick Seah, the jolly owner whose love of Filipino artists is immeasurable, made this international exhibition a reality.
The "Beyond Boundaries" international art exhibit features 10 artists in different genres, making this a spectacular art show.
Featured in the exhibit are (in alphabetical order) — this author, Lander Blanza, and his series of expressionist abstract paintings known as "The Skyscrapers Series." The heavily textured canvases vividly capture the skyscrapers. Skyscrapers represent modern construction and architectural design, symbolizing innovation and progress. In art, this signifies the ultimate challenge and success.
Richard Buxani, one of the more established sculptors of this generation whose brass works captured the interests of the astute art collectors; Owie Chiong, a businesswoman whose brushwork defines her as one of the emerging modernists of her time; Jun Impas — who doesn't need an introduction — is the foremost realist of this generation, considered the top portraitist in the country; Raisa Luz who showcases her unique glass sculptures, a captivating medium in this genre.
The other half of the group features Patrick Naval, an architect with massive structural works in the metropolis, which is impressive before venturing into stainless sculpture; Marge Organo who has established herself as one of the foremost glass sculptors in the nation and the mother of the emerging and young Raisa Luz; Danny Rayos del Sol who is a byword in the Philippine art scene and one of the organizers of the Manila Art Fair; Danny Santiago, a respected art professor whose psychedelic expressionism works make heads turn; and finally, Karen Villaseñor, a crafty lady sculptor whose works are focused on Filipiñana theme brass works.
This art exhibition is presented by VAM International Gallery to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore. It showcases the creativity and versatility of Filipino artists and represents a cultural exhibition displaying the best in the creative field.
This is just the beginning of a series of big shows to be presented by the group; hence, nearby Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand are on the radar. Sooner or later, with the guidance of God, all these plans of promoting Philippine art in the Asean circuit will come to fruition.
