Ford Bronco and Mustang gallop into PH

FORD Philippines has officially launched two new horses from its stable: the new Bronco and the new Mustang. These two models have galloped their way into the hearts of automotive enthusiasts worldwide, and finally, it is now the Filipinos' turn to experience two of Ford's most iconic nameplates that have contributed highly to the heritage of the Blue Oval brand.

Retro-modern capability

Starting with the star of the show, the Bronco variant that Ford Philippines brought into the market is the Outer Banks variant with the Sasquatch package. With that retro old-school yet modern look, the Bronco comes with a black-painted grille that's matched with equally retro white "BRONCO" lettering. Surrounding the grille is a pair of round LED headlights with LED daytime running lights. The five-door body style also comes with a removable hardtop and doors, but unlike a certain off-roader that the Bronco is directly aimed at, the mirrors are mounted at the A-pillars. Therefore, you don't compromise on visibility — even with the doors removed.

As mentioned, the model the Philippines is getting is the Outer Banks with the Sasquatch package, which means it has 17-inch Black high gloss-painted aluminum with an alloy beauty ring and bead lock capable wheels. Also included are Position-Sensitive Bilstein Shock Absorbers, high-clearance suspension, and high-clearance fender flares along with mud terrain tires.

As for interior amenities, the new Bronco comes with leather-trimmed seats in dark space gray and navy pier color with power-adjustable front seats. At front and center is a 12-inch SYNC4 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and enhanced voice recognition. It is also equipped with a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 10 speakers including a subwoofer.

Under the hood of the 2024 Ford Bronco is a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine that produces 335 horsepower (hp) and 555 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. This is mated to a ten-speed automatic that's sent through a 4x4 system. It also offers a broad range of driving modes to optimize performance in various off-road conditions, which is complemented by the famous GOAT Modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) — basically an enhanced version of Ford's Terrain Management System for the Bronco.

Evolutionary muscle

Codenamed S650, the new Ford Mustang carries an evolutionary design and engineering approach. That's because, based on its familiar looks, the seventh-generation Mustang inherits the previous generation model's platform, albeit with significant improvements in rigidity and stiffness to make this a world-class pony car with great handling.

Outside, there's the expected full LED exterior lighting with welcome animations for both variants, while 19-inch alloy wheels are standard across all models. The rear end maintains the iconic fastback profile that the Mustang has always been known for, along with the tri-bar LED taillights that provide the Mustang its iconic light signature at night.

Inside, the 2024 Ford Mustang makes huge leaps in terms of both technology and interior premium feel. There are Recaro leather-trimmed sports seats along with a generous serving of soft-touch accents all around. But the centerpiece inside the Mustang is a magnesium-framed 13-inch touch screen that's powered by Ford's SYNC4 operating system with improved voice recognition, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other interior amenities include a Bang & Olufsen sound system, LED ambient lighting, a 12-inch fully digital driver's instrument cluster, and the FordPass telematics app, which includes features such as the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor, Vehicle Status, and Vehicle Location.

As for engines, the 2024 Ford Mustang comes with either a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder EcoBoost for the 2.3 EcoBoost Premium or a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that's found in the 5.0 GT Premium. Ford says this V8 comes with a dual air intake box and dual-throttle bodies, which, as a result, gives it improved power outputs of 493 hp and 567 Nm of torque. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost, meanwhile, produces 319 hp and 475 Nm of torque. Drivers can also easily maneuver across different road conditions as they can choose between different drive modes: Normal, Sport, Slippery, Custom, Track, and Drag Strip.

Previously available to the GT Premium variant only, both variants of the 2024 Ford Mustang will have the MagneRide adaptive suspension system that adjusts the ride quality depending on the road condition and drive mode, and this is coupled with Brembo brakes.

As for safety, both the Ford Bronco and Mustang are equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver-assistance systems that includes a blind spot information system with cross traffic alert and braking, auto high beam headlights, post impact braking, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering assist function. Finally, the Ford Co-Pilot360 also comes with pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and evasive steer assist that alert and assist the driver if a potential collision is detected.

The Ford Bronco and Mustang are now available across all dealers nationwide. The Bronco retails for P4.998 million while the Mustang starts at P3.499 million for the 2.3 EcoBoost Premium Fastback. The Mustang 5.0 GT Premium Fastback, on the other hand, retails for P3.999 million. Also worth mentioning is that all Bronco and Mustang customers will receive a complimentary Peace of Mind service inspection package with their vehicle purchase.
