Respect, honor the PH flag says Bulacan governor

BULACAN Gov. Daniel Fernando has urged the people of Bulacan to value and respect the Philippine flag as the province joined the commemoration of the National Flag Days starting with the flag raising ceremony held in front of the provincial capitol on Tuesday.

"The national flag is not just a piece of cloth, It is a sacred symbol of the Filipino ideals and traditions, representing sovereignty as a nation," Fernando said. "Bulacan, one of the eight provinces that triggered the Philippine Revolution, will continue to show the spirit of heroism and love to our mother country."

The governor said flags will be displayed in all government institutions and schools from May 28 to June 12, as a way of showing respect to the Philippine flag.

Fernando also said that the youth should be educated of the rules and prohibitions stated in the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8491.

"We must always stand guard to defend the dignity, respect, and reverence to the Philippine flag, the national anthem, and other national symbols, which are the expressions of our nationhood and the principles of national solidarity," he said.
