Harassment complaint filed vs 8 Lucena policemen

LUCENA CITY — Eight personnel of the Lucena City Police Station (LCPS) were arrested and detained for allegedly harassing a civilian inside her house here in Purok Masagana, Barangay Ransohan on Friday.

The complainant, 52-year-old Renelyn Rianzales, filed a case of violation of domicile, grave threats and unjust vexation against eight police intelligence operatives, namely Cpt. Aaron Agbaya Herrera, SMS Richie Ledesma Yuayan, SSg Henry Mascariña Mago, Cpl.

Rainier Reyes Zaballa, Cpl. Allan Daluz Abdon, Cpl. Wilson Peñaverde Bantilan, Cpl. Rene John Martinez Bartolata and SSg. Junar Cabuyao Cabalsa.

In her complaint, Rianzales recounted that around 3.15 a.m. on Friday, she was awakened by loud banging on her door as unidentified armed men wearing dark clothes and masks kicked at her door until it gave in.

The armed men then barged into her unlocked bedroom, identified themselves as policemen and pointed their guns at her.

The operatives, apparently, were looking for Jonathan, the live-in partner of Rianzales.

When asked where Jonathan is, Rianzales said he is not home but at work in Laguna.

The policemen searched the rest of the house and left when they could not find Jonathan.

Rianzales, who was with her two grandchildren inside the house at that time, said she counted five men who entered her house and later learned there were three more posted outside.

After around 30 minutes, Rianzales sought the help of Armando Paderon who accompanied her to the police station to report the incident.

While she was giving the investigator her statement, Rianzales was informed that a police drug operation was scheduled in her barangay by intelligence personnel on the same day.

When the operatives were presented to her, she recognized the armed men who harassed her by the build of their bodies and other bodily marks.

Upon learning of the men's identity, Rianzales immediately filed complaints against them.

The eight police intelligence personnel are now detained at the Lucena PNP temporary lockup facility while cases were filed against them on Friday. They were also inquested on the same day.

Lucena police chief LtCol. Reynaldo Reyes was also relieved of his post on the same day and was replaced by LtCol. William Angway as officer in charge.
