LAS PIÑAS CITY – All eyes will be on Louie Ramirez as he tries to lead University of Perpetual Help System Dalta to its fourth consecutive NCAA men's volleyball crown on May 26 at the Filoil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
The Altas, who scored a four-set victory against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in Game 1, can wrap up the series with another win on Sunday.
In Game 1, Ramirez posted a double double performance of 23 points and 23 excellent receptions to lead his team to a 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 25-19 win.
Perpetual Help coach Sammy Acaylar is expected to continue to lean on Ramirez, who is favored to win a back-to-back Most Valuable Player trophy.
"What we have in mind is that we have to finish in Game 2. We don't want the series to reach a do-or-die Game 3," said the 23-year-old Ramirez, who is playing his final year in the NCAA.
Complementing the game of Ramirez in Game 1 was sophomore Jefferson Marapoc who also had a monster game of 20 points and 27 digs.
Overall, the Las Pinas-based school is gunning for its 14th men's volleyball crown in 40 years with the league.
The Generals of coach Rod Palmero, on the other hand, are no pushovers.
They are capable of stealing the show on Sunday, led by Ervin Osabel and Jan Ruther Abor.
Game time is 12 noon.
In women's volleyball, College of St. Benilde will also gun for the title clincher when it battles Letran in Game 2 at 2 p.m.
