AS Malabon commemorates its 425th anniversary, the city pays homage to its history while embracing a dynamic future.

Malacañang has declared May 21, 2024 a special nonworking holiday in Malabon to mark this significant milestone.

Originally established as Tambobong in 1599, Malabon boasted a plethora of cultural, artistic and tourist attractions. Renowned for its pancit Malabon and distinct ambiance, the city served as a culinary and historical haven. Traditional attire, crafted by local artists, spotlight Malabon's rich cultural and artistic heritage.

Festivities for the anniversary would include the Tambobong Indakan 2024 dance festival and the Grand Coronation Night of Ginoo at Binibining Malabon 2024 at the Malabon Sports Center at 7 p.m. today. Special guest artists Sam Milby and Bianca Umali would grace the event alongside Miss Universe 2021 runner-up Shamcey Supsup, who would serve as a judge.

A jubilant celebration has unfolded at the Grand Sagalahan 2024, where participants of Ginoo at Binibining Malabon showcased the city's culture and history on May 18. Clad in traditional filipiniana and barong, designed by local talents, the event has drawn notable personalities, including Kim Domingo and Paulo Avelino.

"We're hosting a vibrant dance celebration to commemorate our founding anniversary while also spreading public awareness. This annual event has brought immense joy to our community and has become a cherished tradition," Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.

She underscored unity and progress with the theme "Malabon rise, no one will be left behind." This celebration underscored Malabon's historical significance and commitment to future growth, ensuring all residents would partake in the festivities and reflect on their shared heritage.
