Pangasinan, Cagayan records highest heat index at 48 C — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines: The provinces of Cagayan and Pangasinan would likely experience the highest heat index for the day at 48 degrees Celsius, which is classified under the "danger level" while other areas would have between 40 degrees Celsius and 45 degrees Celsius, the state-run weather agency said on Friday.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said warm and humid weather will continue to be experienced in most parts of the country.

"This is due to the easterlies which also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in some areas especially in the late afternoon or at night," the Pagasa forecaster said.

Meanwhile, Tuguegarao City will still have to bear with much hotter weather as the air temperature in the area could reach 38 degrees Celsius, followed by Metro Manila at 37 degrees Celsius.

The state weather bureau reiterated its reminders to the public to limit the time spent outdoors particularly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the heat is intense and to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, among others.
