MANILA, Philippines: Vice President Sara Duterte is the top choice for president in 2028 based on the opinion poll conducted by Oculum Research and Analytics for the first quarter of 2024.
Duterte obtained the support of 42 percent of the 3,000 respondents aged 18 and above randomly selected nationwide.
According to Dr. Racidon Bernarte, Oculum Research head and Asia-Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators Inc. managing editor, Duterte had a more than 2-to-1 advantage against Sen. Raffy Tulfo, the second- ranked choice for president , with 17 percent.
Former vice president Ma. Leonor 'Leni' Robredo was ranked third with 10 percent in the commissioned face-to-face national survey conducted from Feb. 10 to 29, 2024.
Statistically tied from fourth to sixth were former Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, Sen. Imee Marcos and former senator Manny Pacquiao.
Sen. Robin Padilla ranked seventh (2 percent) while Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez placed eighth (0.4 percent).
To ensure representation, a total of 335 respondents from the National Capital Region participated in the nationwide polls, 645 from Northern and Central Luzon, 690 from Southern Luzon, 615 from the Visayas and 715 Mindanao.
The survey had a margin of +- 2 percentage points and a high confidence level of 97 percent.
