Bulldogs bounce back, rout Soaring Falcons

MANILA, Philippines: National University vented its ire on Adamson University, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16, to regain second spot in the UAAP Season 86 Men's Volleyball Tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig on Saturday.

The Bulldogs rose to 10-3 at second over idle De La Salle University (9-3), which gave them a crushing four-set defeat last time out.

Still seeking a twice-to-beat edge come the semis, NU will cap the elimination round against top-seed Far Eastern University on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

De La Salle, on the other hand, still has Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday and University of Santo Tomas on April 27.

"Maganda yung naging laro namin today kasi kung ano yung naging problema namin last game naaddress na namin today," said NU head coach Dante Alinsunurin.

The Bulldogs unleashed a strong finisher courtesy of Michaelo Buddin and Nico Almendras to turn a slim 17-14 margin into a lopsided 25-16 clincher to finish the match in 75 minutes.

NU doubled the production of Adamson in the spiking department, 47-24.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Leo Aringo and Almendras with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

The Soaring Falcons fell to their fifth straight loss to drop to 4-9, still in sixth place. They will cap their campaign against Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday too.

Nobody reached double figures for Adamson as Ahmed Tahiluddin went for eight points while John Yboa had six.
