STA. ROSA, Laguna: The Petro Gazz Angels showed their heavenly form after a straight-set masterpiece, 25-7, 25-21, 25-17 to take a share of lead in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna on Saturday, April 20.
The Angels join Creamline and Choco Mucho with an 8-2 win-loss card, while the Galeries fell to a 3-7 slate.
Brooke Van Sickle showed her smashing prowess once again after chiming in 17 markers built on 13 attacks, three aces, and a block, while her duo Jonah Sabete took the player of the game plum after an 11-point outing on seven attacks, two blocks, and two aces.
Petro Gazz toyed with the Galeries in the first set after a 25-7 win, and dodged the a comeback attempt of the Highrisers in the second set through a 25-21 victory to take a two sets to none advantage.
In the third frame, the Angels had 10-point cushion, 24-14, but the Highrisers put up a fight and made a 3-0 run courtesy of RJ Doromal's kills.
But Dimdim Pacres committed a costly service error to hand the Angels their eight victory, 25-17.
No Highrisers scored in double-digits as France Ronquillo led her squad with six points, while Carly Hernandez, Ysabel JImenez, Grazielle Bombita, and Andrea Marzan all had four points each.
The Angels will close the elimination round facing the Nxled Chameleons on Saturday, April 27, at the PhilSports Arena
