LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: More than 50 government agencies are expected to converge in the province on April 21 and 22 for the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) caravan in a bid to extend vital government services to the people in the 13 towns and surrounding communities.
Rep. Eric Yap said that the two-day event promises to bring a multitude of essential services to the doorstep of the locals, marking a significant initiative under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration.
The lawmaker added that the event will play a pivotal role in providing hope and a fresh start for Filipinos by ensuring accessibility to necessary services in the province.
"Good news, we are hosting a historic event in Benguet! Our province is the first in Cordillera to host the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair and only the 15th nationwide," said Yap. "It will be a massive event with over 50 agencies participating."
BPSF stands as the country's biggest service caravan dedicated to delivering major government services to underprivileged Filipinos across diverse communities nationwide.
Among its highlights are flagship programs like Kadiwa ng Pangulo, Passport on Wheels and driver's license registration/assistance.
"I thank President Bongbong Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez for helping me bring this to Benguet. We're handpicked, and we said we've been lobbying for this. That's why our request was granted at once to host this event," said Yap, adding that tens of thousands throughout the province would benefit from the service fair.
"It is consistent [with] our advocacy on making these government services be brought closer to residents in distant areas," said Yap.
The event is particularly significant for Benguet and its neighboring regions, where access to government services may be limited due to geographical constraints.
Through the BPSF, residents will have the opportunity to avail themselves of crucial services without the need to travel long distances, thereby alleviating the burden on individuals and families.
In addition to government agencies, Representative Yap has enlisted the support of NLEX for RFID installation services. This partnership aims to streamline travel and enhance efficiency for both travelers and vegetable transporters, further contributing to the region's development and connectivity.
"This is historic as this will be the first time that a private sector is taking part. We approached the NLEX group to provide us with RFIDs, so that our trucks and other vehicles no longer need to wait in long lines in the expressway. This is something new compared to BPSF," added the lawmaker.
"This should not be missed, there will be massive payouts of cash assistance for pre-identified beneficiaries. There will be government services, food, raffle items for those who will avail of the services. I also got A-class artists who will perform a live concert, big names," said Yap.
Yap added with its emphasis on service, inclusivity and empowerment, the BPSF promises to be a transformative experience for all who attend.
"We are inviting everyone to mark their calendars, April 21-22 in BSU. I'm confident there will be something for everybody. No doubt, there will be service that one can avail of," said Yap.
