MANILA, Philippines: ACT-CIS Party-list said that it will file a bill to make the acquisition of birth certificates and clearances easy and free for disabled job seekers and solo parents.
House Deputy Majority Floor Leader and ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo said that under the bill, public documents like birth certificate and clearances from the National Bureau of Investigation, police, and barangay (village) will be provided for free for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and solo parents.
"Any savings for them is a big help while they are looking for employment," he said, adding that most PWDs need medicines or therapy while solo parents have no partners in raising their children.
The country has a law, Republic Act 11261, that allows first-time job seekers to acquire documents needed for employment for free.
Tulfo said that under the bill, PWDs and solo parents can get clearances for free every time they apply for a job.
