ILOILO CITY: In a series of police operations sustained within 24 hours, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested 43 individuals wanted by law in Western Visayas.
The PRO-6 said 43 warrants of arrest were served by different operatives across the region.
Of the arrested individuals, 12 were tagged as most wanted persons (MWPs), while the remaining 31 were listed as other wanted persons (OWPs).
Two MWPs each were apprehended in Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo province, and Negros Occidental. One arrest was made by the police offices in Antique, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RMFB-6).
In the arrest of OWPs, Negros Occidental leads the list with nine apprehensions, followed by Iloilo province with six, Aklan with five, and Antique with four arrests. RMFB-6 has made three OWP arrests, Capiz with two, Iloilo City with one and Bacolod City with one arrest.
On April 11, the ninth MWP in Western Visayas for rape was arrested at Barangay San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City. The suspect, a 46-year-old male laborer, has a standing warrant of arrest dated March 19, 2024.
Just 12 hours after the laborer's arrest, law enforcement authorities apprehended a 53-year-old farmer in Tapaz, Capiz, who was tagged as Western Visayas' 10th MWP. He is facing two counts of qualified rape.
