DITO expects to pass final regulatory audit

DITO Telecommunity Corp. is confident it will pass the National Telecommunications Commission's (NTC) final mandatory performance audit by July 2024.

Rodolfo Santiago, the telco's chief technology officer, claimed the company was on track to hit a national population coverage of 84 percent by July 2024 from the current 82 percent.

"We are targeting 86 percent to 87 percent coverage before the end of the year," he added.

DITO earlier passed a fourth mandatory performance audit with a national population coverage of 80.65 percent.

With respect to minimum average broadband speeds (MABS), DITO was clocked at 74.97 megabits per second for 4G and 639.32 Mbps for 5G for all sites, with a combined MABS of 357.14 Mbps.

The company has allotted between P25 billion and P3 billion in capital expenditures (capex) this year to fund its nationwide network rollout.

"Our capex guidance will be tempered a bit. It should be anywhere between P25 billion [and] P30 billion," Eric Alberto, DITO chief executive, said.

Last year, the company set aside P27 billion in capex.

DITO is targeting 15 to 20 percent market share this year from the current 10 percent. It currently has more than 10 million subscribers.

"We are confident that with our better and brand-new network, we have reasons to gain our rightful share of the market," Alberto said.
