WASHINGTON, D.C.: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived here on Wednesday morning (local time) for his high-level participation meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US President Joe Biden.

The chartered flight from Manila carrying the chief executive and his lean delegation landed at the Joint Base Andrews at 8pm local time.

He will kick off his two-day official visit to the US capital with the historic trilateral summit with Kishida and Biden at the White House on Thursday.

A one-on-one meeting with Biden will immediately follow where the two leaders are expected to give updates on the agreements they forged during Marcos' working visit in May last year.

The President is also slated to meet with various business groups on the same day.

He will wrap up his trip with another visit to The Pentagon before he flies back to Manila.

Marcos previously noted that he will particularly underscore the importance of enhancing the economic cooperation of the Philippines with Japan and the US "with a view to promoting economic resilience and security."

He likewise will raise various regional security issues of mutual concern, "while continuing to reiterate the importance of upholding the rule of law and preserving the rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific region."
