PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday turned over housing units to 216 informal settler families in Balanga, Bataan, as part of the government's continuous efforts to provide proper homes for Filipinos.

In his speech, Marcos acknowledged the dangers that the beneficiaries have faced for years while living along the Talisay River, which was identified as a hazard zone.

"For years, you faced the dangers of living by the river. So, we are here to give a solution to their problem," the President said.

"You can now live in your own house that is safe and comfortable. As early as now, I am extending my congratulations to our beneficiaries for starting this new phase of your life," he added.

The President assured them that the government remains committed to building more safe, quality, and comfortable housing units.

He also reminded the beneficiaries to preserve and maintain their new homes, as they will serve as the foundation for their dreams and a better future.

The new homes will also enrich their community for them to flourish and live a comfortable life together, Marcos said.

"Love and care for these well so that they can serve as the foundation of your dreams and a good future. I hope you enrich this community so you can all progress and prosper," he added.

The Chief Executive assured the beneficiaries of the government's guidance at all times, particularly the local and provincial governments of Bataan.

He also expressed confidence in the leadership of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jerry Acuzar and National Housing Authority (NHA) Manager Joeben Tai.

The Balanga City Low-Rise Housing Project of the NHA, located in Barangay Tenejero, features six condominium-style buildings.

Each unit, measuring 27 square meters, is equipped with two bedrooms, a kitchen, toilet, bath, and fully operational water and power supplies.

The NHA also plans to build basic facilities in the housing community, such as a four-story school building with 20 classrooms, a multipurpose building, and a covered basketball court.

A community center building has also been constructed within the housing project to ensure that beneficiaries will have access to basic commodities, educational facilities and other community needs.

It houses a health center, daycare center, barangay learning hub, offices of the homeowners' association and a local government unit housing satellite office.
