PH gaming firm looking to expand

GAMING and leisure firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp. is open to the possibility of offering its digital platforms outside the Philippines as it continues to expand its market reach, its top executive said.

"In the future, if we become very successful and other countries are open to online gaming, we might explore. Right now, the games are good for locals here," DigiPlus President Andy Tsui said in a recent interview.

"Maybe we'll operate in another country that has a [large] Filipino population. That may be another good potential market for us in the future," he emphasized.

DigiPlus expects to grow its revenues by 10 to 20 percent in 2024 and add up to 10 million users to its digital gaming platforms — BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and PeryaGame.

The company has also allocated around P1.5 billion to P2 billion for capital expenditures this year, with at least 50 percent of the budget going toward technological and game development.

"We see a big untapped market here at the moment. We'll continue to expand because we are only entering our third year. We started in 2022," Tsui said.

Apart from digital offerings, DigiPlus has also been expanding its physical sites to "create integrations" and provide enhanced customer experiences.

"We want to build some flagship sites. This is part of our brand building... so people recognize our name and can play either on-site or online, becoming more like entertainment," he added.

Moving ahead, the company also plans to incorporate non-gaming elements, such as movies and sports channels, for livestreaming content on its platforms.

"We are exploring all these options to add more entertainment so people, when they think about entertainment, will think about DigiPlus," Tsui said.

DigiPlus ended 2023 with its net income growing nearly six times to P4.1 billion from P686.9 million in 2022, following sustained growth in digital retail operations.

The company's shares declined by 3.12 percent to close at P13.04 apiece on Monday.
