Wong-Rondina connection flourishes in Titans win

(UPDATE) THE "RonDeanna" connection thrives.

With a roaring crowd rooting for Choco Mucho in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, the Flying Titans' Sisi Rondina and Deanna Wong put on a show in their win against Capital1 in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference last Saturday, April 6.

Wong played as a starter for the first time in the conference and showed that her connection with high-leaper Rondina never diminished, after a 25-15, 25-16, 25-21 sweep against the Solar Spikers.

In the last PVL 2023 2nd All-FIlipino Conference, Wong and Rondina served as the dynamic duo of the Flying Titans, leading Choco Mucho to its first finals appearance.

Being sidelined in their previous matches due to her injury, Wong shared how she found her footing as a starter and how their training contributed to their growing chemistry.

"It starts with training, especially our coach (Dante Alinsunurin), my teammates, they are always there. We help each other and bring each other up," Wong told the press.

"The coaches know the strategies that they should do during the game. Our coach prioritized our health, I am happy that I played today, little by little. It is more of the system that we follow that is why whoever is inside the court we can still execute," she added.

Alinsunurin shared how glad he is that he utilized all of his players and all of them delivered.

"I am happy with how we played today, everyone almost played. We maximized it, and whoever was inside the court delivered. As I told before, in terms of our needs with our players, if our matches our crucial, we have someone reliable on the bench," he said.

For Rondina, all she wants is consistency and hopes that Choco Mucho will continuously take control of the game despite their opponents trailing them close.

The Solar Spikers put on a fight in the third frame after trimming the Flying Titans' lead to one, 22-21, but the Choco Mucho showed their maturity and made three consecutive runs to finish the match.

The five-foot-six high-leaper also said before that regardless of coach Dante's decision on who will be the setter for Choco Mucho, she will continue to deliver and put her trust.

Wong tallied a total of nine excellent sets, while Rondina served as the top scorer of the team with 13 points in their match versus Capital1.
