45 years of Cecile Azarcon's music

Renowned singer and songwriter Cecile Azarcon is set to celebrate her 45 year anniversary in the music business with an all-star concert at The Theatre in Solaire on May 24 and 25.

The show will feature Azarcon's compositions from the past four decades, most of which are now considered among the biggest selling contemporary classics.

Azarcon is the daughter of the esteemed Minda Azarcon, a pianist, singer, music teacher to many big names and music director of acclaimed films like "Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang," "Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos" and "Insiang."

Azarcon started playing the piano at the age of three and writing songs when she was six years old. She had her hit breakthrough at 19 with the inspirational "Lift Up Your Hands," which was originally recorded by Basil Valdez and which was later covered by Sharon Cuneta and Gary Valenciano.

Among Azarcon's other big hits are "Reaching Out" by Gary Valenciano and "Special Memory" by Iwi Laurel from the soundtrack of the movie "Hotshots;" "So It's You" by Raymond Lauchengco from the "Bagets" soundtrack; "I Think I'm in Love" and "One More Try" by Kuh Ledesma; "How Did You Know?" By Chiqui Pineda and Valenciano; "Even If" by Jam Morales, "Sana ay Ikaw Na Nga" also by Valdez; "Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin" by Martin Nievera and others.

Joining Azarcon to perform her works in "Cecile Azarcon: A 45 Anniversary Concert" are Kuh Ledesma, Janno Gibbs, Jam Morales, Fe de los Reyes, Jackielou Blanco, Mark Bautista, Timmy Pavino and Isabella Gonzales. Also up to share in the celebration are Martin Nievera, Iwi Laurel and Nicole Asensio on May 24 and Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Katrina Velarde on May 25.
